Well, I thought I was taking a break from blogging this weekend, but I had to post just one more in honor of my amazing husband!
As if life hasn't already been busy enough, I caught a bit of the flu bug this week, thus pushing me back on my big list of "To Do's" and forcing us to postpone our trip up north to visit family until next weekend. I am doing much better today, and so I decided to take advantage of the cool fall-like weather and get some work done outside, including preparations for the big fall garage sale I still intend to have as an "adoption fundraiser" to help cover some of our expenses. Breanna was assisting me, so when dinner time rolled around, I asked Martin if he and Dawson could take care of things tonight. So my husband, being the sweet man that he is, was already on top of it as he had pulled out some walleye (tasty mild white fish ...a favorite amongst Minnesotans!) that he and the kids caught while icefishing back in January. We froze it immediately after he filleted it, so it still tasted perfectly fresh yet tonight... and it was SO good!! I was quite impressed with my hubands cooking skills, if I do say so myself!
Anyway, backing up a bit: I didn't have time to help him with any of the preparations, so he went online to see what recipes he could find. Since he grew up on a resort during his teenage years, he enjoyed many a fish fry prepared by his mom, and used to love her beer-batter fish. So you guessed it... that is what he chose to make! He had to make a run into town to pick up a few ingredients, including the beer (as it's not something we keep in stock since we only use it for cooking on a rare occasion) and returned ready to cook! Fried food is also an extreme rarity around here, so I told him to be sure to put on old clothes or wear an apron. When Dawson called Breanna and I in to eat, this is what I found:

Gotta love a man in the kitchen! :o)
...and even better yet, one sporting a classy denim 'Pampered Chef'' apron!! Isn't he just cute!!?!!
I 'heart' this man!!!

I love it!!! What a great guy...so much like my Andrew! :) We are blessed women, my friend!
P.S. I have the same trivets in my kitchen that you have above the stove...we obviously have great taste! LOL!
That is great. Next time you should hide the blue apron and hang up a pink one to see if he will wear it. Now that would make a good picture. :)
Hope you are feeling better and thanks for the encouragement on Ruthie. She slept through the night last night so maybe it was those nasty shots from Wednesday. Hoping for a great, back to normal, day.
I love it too! I used to love it when Greg went fishing AND cooked the fish too! Love the apron....love husbands who pamper their wives.....and you are so deserving sweet girl;)
I happen to come across your site... isn't it nice have such great hubbies...
It is nice to meet you and must say... I love the title of your blog... take care
Now if you keep posting about these Northern-esque fish I'm going to be forced to head north to go fishing! (Actually my husband is preparing to go on on Elk hunt ... so maybe not real soon ...) But they sound delicious. And a personal chef to boot?! Wow. Can't beat that. I gotta say that Jeff does fish and also fried eggs way better than me ... I should probably encourage him to take over those menu items.
Hope you are feeling better!
Yes- he looks very nice in an apron!
Dinner sounds great- I'll be right over!
Hope you are back to 100% soon! Good luck with the garage sale! I am thinking about having one myself. I saved a bunch of things for the big kids now they tell me they don't want most of the stuff- oh well, maybe someone will want it!
Blessings,
Jean
Martin looks "adorable" in his apron! Tom always makes the fish in our house (except when I use my baking recipe) but I will have to get him a cute apron like that to wear! It's so great that we both have such wonderful "cute" husbands.
Glad you're feeling better...miss you.
Goodness - a hubby that good looking and cooking too? You are one lucky gal! LOL!
