Prayers for Kevin...

UPDATE: The Ferrills have made their blog public for a time, so check in to see how little Kevin is doing here!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends ~
I am coming to you with another prayer request. I know you are all so faithful to lift these children up, and we KNOW the power of prayer in numbers. Kevin is a little boy who came home from China just 4 weeks ago. Before he was adopted, Kevin was brought to NewDay where he resided at their Healing Home until he joined his new family. Like Nathan (who you prayed for last week) Kevin was born with a very serious heart defect, so they waited until he was adopted so that he could receive the best possible care here in the U.S. He has been home with his forever family for about 4 weeks now. Tomorrow (Tuesday) he goes in for a shunt surgery. His momma, Laine, is SO grateful for all of your prayers; and though their blog is usually private, she is considering making it public during this time, so that you can follow along and read updates of all that God is doing in Kevin's life. It's wonderful that we can all lift eachother up to our Heavenly Father and be a support to one another during these difficult times. It is NO secret how much the orphans mean to me personally. And though Kevin is an orphan no more (PTL!) he is still in great need of healing and our prayers! Please join with me in lifting this very precious little guy up before he goes in for his surgery tomorrow. He has been blessed with an amazing family and they love him SO much. It's always hard to see such little people go through such big physical challenges. But we trust that God will use this situation for the good and that we can be confident of this, "that he who began a good work will carry it on to completion." ~ Phil.1:6
Here's what Kevin's parents had to say in one of their recent blog posts about their little Sweetie:
22 pounds of mischief, squeezes, grins, pluck and grit!
A 22 pound blessing, that's what he is!
Kevin will be having surgery to put in God's shunt (I call it that because I know God came up with it, right?) Tuesday, April 6th. Because of his complicated heart issues, they will put him on bypass during the surgery. We are told we will be in the hospital at least 4 days. Kevin will be in ICU until he can tolerate being off the ventilator.
So please please please please please pray for our little man. All 22 pounds of him!
Again, on Tuesday (tomorrow!) Kevin will be having surgery. Please pray with us for wonderful results.
And thanks to all of you who so faithfully joined in to pray for Nathan's surgery last week. Incase you haven't read his update, you can click here to see how this little hunny is doing, too! :)
Two very, very special little boys...both with heart conditions...both extremely ADORABALE! ...both from NewDay ...both received (or will be receiving) a shunt to help with their healing ...and both in loving Christian homes! God is good!!
I will be praying ! I had the privilege of meeting Kevin's mom at The Children's hear center a couple of months ago - precious family. I cried when I met her and her beautiful family. Kevin is a very special boy and God has him in His hands for sure.
I've been thinking of Kevin often since your first post on this family. I will continue to lift Kevin and his family, doctors etc. up in prayer. I pray his family will feel peace in their hearts knowing they have so many prayer warriors lifting them up.
God is so good!
I am so thankful that you know of his parents. Is there any chance that you could give her my e-mail address and she could add me to her blog list? (You know....at some point, totally not right now as they have their hands BEYOND full).
We looked at Kevin's file back in....hmmmm......I don't remember when, back before we saw the face of our little guy we're praying for. Anyway, it's a long story, but we had his file and we prayed about him for days and had his file reviewed. In the end, we felt that with two kids already at home and so young, we wouldn't be able to handle his needs. Fast forward to months and months later when my heart leapt with joy to find out that he was at New Day, and to hear he had been matched with a family.
Scot and I were SO thrilled to hear he was going to have surgery.....when we had his medical files reviewed they did not have any good news for us. My neighbor (who does not know the Lord) is a cardiac nurse, and she was just broken up about Kevin and his situation. I would love for her to see Kevin, and read his family's story and I personally would LOVE to tell them how we prayed for Kevin before they were matched with him!!!
