It's Beginning to Look alot like Christmas!!

Indeed, it SNOWED in Minnesota today! Okay, so you may be thinking, "...it's the Tundra, don't you ALWAYS have snow up there?!" No, not typically YET anyway! At least in these parts of our state, we usually make it until at least November, and often times we don't get any good ground cover until December. I don't expect it will last beyond a day or two, but it was quite the surprise to wake up to all of this white fluff!! Most of the trees still have green leaves on them, and we haven't even finished winterizing yet. Martin managed to get our sprinkler lines blown out yesterday, and he drained the water out of our fountain (after breaking through a thin layer of ice on top!) but we still have all of our patio furniture out by the pool and our potted plants. Pretty sure they're frozen now ...as are my moss roses hanging from our mail box! Dawson contemplated getting out his snowboard and sleds, though I don't think there's quite enough for that yet! LOL! But our little Rascal enjoyed sniffing around in it! Check out the snow on his nose, so cute!

Anyhow, the first snowfall usually gets me to thinking about Christmas. And even though it's only October, this was no exception. Only this year, my heart is pulled in a different direction. As our daughter waits for us in Ch*na, my thoughts are turned to her and the other children who wait for their forever families. So I'd like to ask all of you a favor. I know, when people hear the word "favor" they often want to turn and run, but please don't stop reading here.

Most of you know that our daughter resides at a wonderful foster home where she is cared for by an amazing staff of nannies and caregivers. I continue to hear great things about this place from those who have traveled before me, and we know how blessed we are that our daughter is there until we can bring her home. All of the children in this foster care facility have a special need. Many of the needs are correctable and some of the children have already had their surgeries, while others still wait for theirs. Daily I visit the website and learn about any new children who are arriving, about their special needs and anything I might be able to pray for. So it probably comes as no surprise that they all hold a special place in my heart. Well, this year a wonderful lady named Sherri has stepped forward to organize a special project called Operation Giggle. I am asking each of you to take some time to look at the website and learn more about this project and how you can help. It doesn't take much and it is CERTAIN to have such a big impact on the lives of these deserving children. The goal of this project is for all of the children at NewDay to have a gift that was hand-selected just for them, to open on Christmas Day.

This is what Carrie at NewDay had to say about it: " We can just see it now... Christmas morning and our playroom will be brimming with children, nannies, staff, and foster parents. After we've had a chance to share the Christmas story, Santa will come in -- dressed up, of course -- and pass out a present to each child, sent with love by people like you from all over the world! So if you want to get involved, contact Sherri. She needs people who are willing to help sponsor shipping costs and people who want to buy presents for the kids. We're so thankful that Sherri is coordinating this for our children, and we think it is a great way to get our blogging community involved in giving our kids a very Merry Christmas! "

Even if you don't have the time to shop, you can STILL HELP! One of the greatest expenses involved with this project plan are the packaging and shipping costs. EVERY single bit counts. If you can give a little or a lot, it WILL make a difference in the lives of these kiddos. So please consider giving towards this project. I encourage you to take your own children out to shop with you, it will mean SO much to them when they get to see photos of the kids opening up the gifts they helped choose on Christmas day. Every year I have taken each of my kids out to purchase a gift for someone else in need. It teaches them so much about what the spirit of giving is really about, and puts a different thought in their mind other than just "get, get, get!" It's not often that I reach out and ask a favor, but this one means so much to me. Afterall, my daughter will be the recipient of one of these gifts and there's nothing more priceless (to me) than seeing her sweet smile!!

So one last time, PLEASE visit Operation Giggle and consider posting about this on your own blog or feel free to link back to mine. And while you are there, you can grab their sparkling button to fancy up your own blog, all while making a difference!! You can also click their button on my side bar to pay them a visit! Thank you all for your consideration and God bless!! <><

"Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, crushed down, full and running over, they will give to you. For in the same measure as you give, it will be given back to you."

That snow is so beautiful...I'm jealous!!! It's been nearly 3 years since I've seen a good snowfall, and I doubt we'll get any this year either! Try to enjoy it for me, okay? :)

I second Tara in the beauty of the snow...it's so pure and peaceful. I'm still enjoying fall, so keep your snow for a bit longer!

I second Operation Giggle!! God gave the ultimate Christmas Gift in sending His son. We should be so blessed as to give to these little ones still waiting and wanting for their forever family.

Christmas morning will be extra special this year...celebrated with loved ones here, and these little ones there in China.

Wow! What beautiful snow! We had a sparkly dusting ... but it was gone by mid-morning. It was fun to watch it falling so gently! (I love snow ... although now being the adult I get a little weary and anxious when there are ice/snow storms and we're needing to be on the roads.)
Thanks for the wonderful post about Operation Giggle. I'm so anxious to get started on the shopping and preparation! What a blessing to be able to give. It almost feels weirdly selfish. I'm so happy that your post is fanning out the word to others! Yay!
And I did really enjoy the post from New Day today! Oh how sweet! ANd I loved that there was a Sat. post ... like you I kinda check over the weekend even though I know they're not there! HA!

First of all, is that your house in the first photo? If so, it's gorgeous, especially with the snow which I love! We had a bit of snow {here in Iowa} but nothing like what you show here. I love Christmas and could just skip Halloween and go right to my favorite holiday, so I welcome the snow :)

Secondly, thank you for your comment on my blog. You are too sweet, really :) I am not good at accepting complements, so I will just say 'thank you my friend.'

Third, I am so excited about Operation Giggle. I love to shop, and this gives me an excuse to shop with a wonderful purpose *he he* Last year I took the kids out to shop for kids who wouldn't have a Christmas otherwise, and it was such a blessing for them to be servants and love on others. This is an awesome opportunity to do just that again, and I hope that many want to get involved. The Lord is good and has blessed us, and I pray we can be a blessing to those precious little kiddos.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend Tanya!

Love, Angie :)

Your home looks beautiful surrounded by trees and fresh snow! We, too, had a freezing cold day in Colorado. It will be in the 70s again by Wednesday though....crazy!
I bet you are so eager to get to Khloe! Hang in there. Any idea when you will travel?
Ruby was barely in 12 month clothes when we got her in July. She has since packed on 4 lbs (NEVER stops eating, seriously) and is in 18 month outfits, for the most part. She still has no waist and I have to fold her pants over to stop them falling down! How old os Khloe now?

Enjoy your weekend!

I can't believe it snowed! :( I was hoping that it would warm up again and it would feel like fall again, but it appears more snow is in the forecast. :( The people I am staying with this weekend were telling me they didn't even get to finish winterizing because of the unexpected, early snowfall.

Thanks for sharing Operation Giggles. What a neat program!

The snow is so pretty! Your house is beautiful and your dog is adorable!

Thanks for posting about Operation Giggle. I just emailed Sherri about sponsoring a child this Christmas. I love it that you've always taken your own children to shop for the needy during the Christmas season. That's such a great life lesson. You're a great mother!

I love her piggy tails! :) SO cute! I love the snowfall pictures - my potted plants are done, too - and without much warning! Unfortunately I didn't get to empty the hose like I was hoping to, so I'm not certain if it's operable anymore or not! Oops ...

Definitely looking into the Operation Giggle!

Loving you much sister!

Wow, it's waaay too early for snow!

Thank you for sharing the opportunity to give Christmas presents to the children. I am very excited about this, and can't wait to go shopping with my grandkids, so they can learn what this special season is really all about.

Blessings!

I will certainly be donating to Operation Giggle. Wish I could actually be with all the children when they receive their gifts.
Khloe looks so cute and older too with her bangs cut. Love those piggies!! :)

SNOW!! I have never seen that much snow in my life (in person) before. I am a Southern Florida girl. The most snow I have seen is a light mist on the ground. Sad, I know. You can have some of our weather..it is 99 here today. And I will take some of yours. That should make it a nice fall day!!

I'll check out that link to the foster care. That's neat that someone is organizing something special for them for Christmas.

I tagged you on my blog today.

2) Thanks for the awesome compliments on my blog!

3) Operation Giggle sounds great. I will have to check it out.

4) My sister-in-law makes many of Addison's hairbows...however I have a friend and her sister just started a business making very similar ones, it's online, but I forget the address so I will TRY to remember to get it and send it to you in case you want it! :)

Love the snow! (I'm envious!) It's a thrill just to get a few sprinkles of rain around here!

Thank you for your kind comments on our blog! Aren't those China silks adorable! You can purchase them in almost every store on Shamian Island. I bought just about every color and some larger sizes for Maylie to grow into. They are so inexpensive too. The average being about $8 an outfit! Can't beat that! And if you are looking for a certain color most stores will be able to get in for you in a day or two.

I am excited to follow your journey to Khloe! And I can't wait to see her in those silks! She is a doll!

Blessings,
Lydia
